Inis Publications

As part of our key aim to bring Irish myths and legends back into the classroom and into children’s homes, we have launched our first book:  “The Brown Bull of Cooley”, printed in Irish as “An Donn Cuailgne”. It tells the story of Queen Maeve of Connacht, who sets out to capture The Brown Bull of Cooley, to prove to her husband that she is the richest person in Ireland. The legend is re-told by ex-BBC journalist Trish Hegarty in a simple but lively story-telling style, and is beautifully illustrated by Celtic artist, John Quigley. Design and layout is by Eileen McLaughlin of Emick Design and translation into Irish is by Daire Ní Laoi.
